Dining under the shade of tree branches is such a splendid idea. We bring you a garden arbor inspired plate from Mr Stg Lindberg's own creation.
"To create objects that are functional while creating joy with their beauty", words of Stig Lindberg - ceramist, industrial designer, and illustrator.
Being true to Scandinavian design principle of using nature as inspiration, Stig Lindberg's leaves patterned ware collection is a classic hit since its first production in 1960. The raw hand painted lines detailed in "Berså" - Swedish for arbor - is one of Stig Lindberg's famous design characteristics, focusing on the beauty of being natural, raw and imperfect.
Achieving fame for his eccentric form and whimsical decor, this Swedish designer's work has been in the heart of every modern home, bringing sunshine and delight to generations. He studied painting in Sweden's famous Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design and has garnered several gold medals in numerous international design festivals during his time. Named as art director of Gustavsbergs Porslin Factory in 1937, his work has earned him the name "Fantasy Man".
This plate is masterfully crafted by Gustavsbergs Porslin Factory. Founded in 1825 in Sweden (the only Nordic country with such a tradition since the 1800's), it is the country's last remaining porcelain factory.
Gustavsberg's specialty is bone china. With its rich history and mastery of the craft, it has produced great novelties of genuine bone china. The porcelain factory is one of the first in Europe to learn the delicate art of producing bone china and is still one of the very few manufacturers of porcelain white gold.
